Joe was a fifth-generation Colorado rancher/farmer in the San Luis Valley. He was a true cowboy, a pillar of his community, a protector of the land and water and people's rights to both and he was a mentor to many. Joe was a county commissioner, a teacher, a mechanical engineer, a world traveler and friend to all. He was a strong and humble man who when asked what he did, he reply was "I'm just a farmer."

Joe was a busy man and each day he took time to enjoy a good cup of coffee. He simply loved good coffee and no matter the time of day, a pot of the black gold would always be ready to brew at a coffee station in the corner of his kitchen. Joe only drank freshly brewed coffee and served only the best to his guests.  In December 2016 he passed away suddenly and this coffee is a tribute to that much loved and respected man. 15% of all proceeds are donated to an educational scholarship fund named for him.

The Black Hat Joe Coffee Co is a local Colorado company in Loveland. All coffee is open-air roasted in small craft batches and this unique roasting method ensures a clean, smooth taste that we think is amazing. We hope you will try it and agree that is is the best Colorado coffee.
