Frequently Asked Questions
Where is your coffee roasted?
Our coffee is locally roasted in Loveland, Colorado.

Can I purchase your coffee locally?
Great news! Black Hat Joe is now available for purchase at the San Luis People's Market located in San Luis, Colorado.
What is the difference between air roasted coffee and traditionally roasted coffee?
Air roasted coffee is roasted with hot air instead of the traditional method of roasting which uses direct heat. This method creates a more consistent roast and preserves more of the flavor and aroma of the beans.

What are the differences between Medium, Dark and Espresso?
Medium, Dark, and Espresso are all types of coffee roasts we offer. Medium roast coffees are typically light brown in color and have a balanced flavor with a mild bitterness. Dark roasts are usually darker in color, have an intense flavor, and can have a slightly smoky or even slightly burnt flavor. Espresso roasts are very dark in color, have a strong flavor, and may have a slight sweetness.

What method is best for brewing Black Hat Joe coffee?

The best method for brewing air roasted coffee is to use a pour-over method. This can be done using a pour-over cone and filter paper. The pour-over method allows you to control the temperature and speed of the water as it passes through the filter and into the cup, giving you more control over the strength of your coffee. Additionally, you can use a French press, which also gives you the ability to control the strength of the coffee brewed. Whichever method you decide to use, make sure to use freshly ground beans for the best flavor and aroma.
